Borja Prado Eulate

Born in Madrid, Spain, in 1956. Since April 20th 2022, Borja Prado is the Chairman of Mediaset España Comunicación, S.A. He has been a member of the Board of Directors for 17 years.

He is one of the Founding partners of Peninsula Capital, a venture capital fund manager operating in Southern Europe and Latin America since 2015. He is also the Chairman of the Spanish Group of the Trilateral Commission, a non-govermental discussion group founded by David Rockefeller.

He has been partner in Key Capital Partners, a financial boutique based in Madrid, from 2019 to 2022.

He has been the Executive Chairman of Endesa -the leading Spanish electric company- and Fundación Endesa (2015-2019) for ten years (2009-2019). He chaired the Spanish Energy Club (Enerclub) from 2016 to 2018.

He has an extensive professional career -mainly in the financial sector- that began in 1980 in Focoex (Fomento de Comercio Exterior). He was the Vicepresident of UBS in Spain from 1989 and 1994. In 1995 he became Director of Rothschild & Co. -one of the world's largest independent financial advisory groups- in Spain, where he worked for four years. Between 1999 and 2007, he worked for Lazard as Vice Chairman of the Spanish Branch. From 2007 to 2009, he served as Director of the Board of Endesa and Endesa Chile.

Since 2007 and until the end of 2014, he was Chairman of the Italian Bank Mediobanca for Spain and Latin America. Later he became the Chairman of Global Coverage, until 2018.

He was Vice Chairman of the Latin American power utilities company Enersis from 2013 to 2015.

Mr. Prado studied Law at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain). He continued his studies in International Relations and foreign trade at New York University and the firm Philipp Brothers (now Phibro).

He has received many nacional and international awards:

Doctor Honoris Causa by Alfonso X University in 2018.

"Máster de Oro" (Golden Master) award from the Real Fórum de Alta Dirección, a senior management forum in Madrid and Executive Awards XXVI in 2016. Businessperson of the Year award by Fedecom (Federation of Spanish Official Chambers of Commerce in Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania) in 2014. Outstanding Business Person Award presented by the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Chile in 2011.

Knight of Justice of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George in 2018. Fondena (Fund Foundation for the Protection of Nature) award in 2014, Grande Ufficiale dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia in 2013, Tiépolo Prize (personalities who have stood out for their work in the integration and development of economic and commercial relations between Italy and Spain) and Seres Foundation (for a Responsible Society and Company) in 2012.
